2016 Graduation & Party in the DR

2016 Graduation & Party in the DR

Here are photos of Mo’s trip to the Dominican Republic to celebrate the graduation of her Haitian friend, Robinson Moreta.  Mo met Robinson during the first year of Mo’ Motion while on a volunteer vacation at a small camp off the beaten path in Munoz Village, Puerto Plata.  Robinson helped Mo run a sports clinic and fun activities for boys and girls in the batey, a place nearby where refugees from Haiti live without running water, toilets and very little to no electricity.  Robinson finished at the top of his high school class, but he nor his family had any money to put toward the application process for college.  Robinson said he had his school and degree (civil engineering) all picked out, but no money to move forward.  Mo gave him $200 to get his paperwork in, and she offered to help if he needed more money to pay for books and tuition.

Robinson did not reach out for more money.  Mo and Robinson stayed in touch via the internet.  Robinson invited Mo back to the DR to celebrate his graduation from the Universidad de Technologia de Santiago.
